JRA was chosen to design the University of West Florida’s Health and Leisure Sciences building. Included in the building is a 10,000 square foot fitness area, two multipurpose rooms, locker facilities and a rock wall. Also housed in the structure, is an indoor turf field used for teaching and indoor soccer, 4 indoor racquetball courts, an indoor running track and three basketball/volleyball courts.
Additionally, the building houses the Administrative Office and a Health Science/Sports Medicine Laboratory, a Biomechanics/Motor Learning Laboratory and an Exercise Physiology Laboratory. There are various testing rooms and computer and instrumentation labs associated with these functions, along with faculty offices and staff space. The research labs, teaching labs, lecture hall, meeting rooms, conference rooms and support areas are organized to provide an interactive, cross-discipline research, teaching and learning environment. Total space is 107,000 gross square feet with a project budget of $14.6 million.
