JRA Architects was proud to be selected for the $13.1 million renovation, remodeling, and additions to the Trenton K–12 campus, a comprehensive project that enhances the educational experience for students and supports the evolving needs of the school and community. The centerpiece of this effort is the design and construction of a new 25,000-square-foot cafetorium, a versatile, multi-use facility that combines dining and performing arts into one dynamic space.
At the heart of the cafetorium is a 300-seat, sloped-floor auditorium designed to accommodate a wide range of school and community performances, assemblies, and presentations. A signature feature of this space is the incorporation of rear folding fixed-chair seating, which—through an innovative operable wall system—extends into the adjacent dining area, increasing the total audience capacity to nearly 1,000 seats. This flexible design maximizes functionality while maintaining comfort and acoustical performance for all event types.
To further support student life and streamline daily operations, the cafetorium includes a modern four-line food court, offering an efficient and student-friendly meal service experience. A covered outdoor dining area expands the usable dining space and provides a shaded, open-air environment for students to gather, socialize, and dine throughout the school year.
A Longstanding Relationship with Gilchrist County Schools
JRA’s work in Trenton builds upon a strong and trusted relationship with the School Board of Gilchrist County, which began with our selection for the $24 million renovation and additions at the Bell K–12 campus. That transformative project laid the groundwork for a continuing partnership, and since then, JRA has proudly served the district on multiple major and minor projects, delivering thoughtful, student-centered solutions that support the County’s educational mission.
Our team’s deep understanding of K–12 design, combined with a hands-on, collaborative approach, ensures that each facility we design is tailored to the needs of the district, the staff, and—most importantly—the students. The Trenton and Bell campuses stand as a testament to JRA’s commitment to designing learning environments that are functional, flexible, and built for the future.
