Hired by the Clay County School Board in 2004, JRA was commissioned to design the new School “NN” for Clay County Schools. Clay County directed JRA to develop the Bond Elementary Prototype Plan into a K-8 configuration. The project was designed to open as a K-8 and converted into a 7-8 middle school after completion of a nearby elementary school. As part of the entire 100-acre site for School “NN” and a future high school immediately adjacent to it, the school consists of an “H” shaped building layout with a detached gymnasium.

The 120,000 square foot facility houses an administration and media center core flanked by a food service building with a stage, a multi-purpose room, and a music suite on one side and a vo-tech wing on the other. The main classroom building runs perpendicular to the center core, completing the “H” shape. At the request of the School Board, JRA and the CM accelerated the schedule during the design development stage and were able to open the school in time for the August 2006 school year, 12 months ahead of the original schedule.
