Montford Middle School

New Construction, Cafeteria, and Administration

Details

From 2006 through 2015, JRA was selected to design a new middle school for the Leon County School Board which was based on our Deerlake Prototype Design. The new school was located on Centerville Road adjacent to Roberts Elementary School. Designed for 1,300 Student Stations, the core facilities, Administration, Gymnasium, Food Service and Media Center were built at full size, while only one of the four classroom wings were constructed in the initial phase. The buildings, in addition to the vocational and ESE wing, are arranged in a campus layout plan with the planned three future classroom wings accounted for in the Master Plan. The $22 million school was completed in the Summer of 2008.

The first classroom addition, Building #7 was commissioned in 2008. This took place after substantial completion of the main campus, but prior to the school opening, the single story, 20,000 SF structure, houses 9 classrooms, 3 science labs, 2 resource rooms and a teacher planning area.  Also in this phase was the addition of two classrooms to the existing Media Center. This addition was completed in 2009.

From 2013 thru 2016 JRA completed the second classroom addition on the campus. The 16,000 sf building housed two science labs, one computer lab, six classrooms and a teacher planning area.
