Tallahassee International Airport

Details

JRA designed the new airport terminal for the City of Tallahassee. As Florida's Capital City the terminal serves as a principal gateway to the Sunshine State. The terminal was to be representative of both Florida's sun-soaked beaches, as well as the City of Tallahassee’s North Florida appeal.

The facility combines high-tech steel and glass softened with brick columns and a Spanish tile roof. The approach is continued in the landscaping with palm trees and pampas grass that complement Tallahassee's dogwood, azaleas and oak trees.

The 160,000 square-foot terminal is highly functional with eight jet boarding gates and six commuter gates, a 180-foot-long ticket counter and two baggage claim carrousels. The facility also contains restaurants, lounges, conference and meeting areas, administrative offices, retail spaces and rental office space.
